Pull You Up By The Bootstraps
Even though the sound from the machine has stopped, the silence has not yet arrived
A constant vibration in- and outside the body, occupied with loneliness
The world is a buzz of people filled with efficiency and destinations
We need darkness and silence
And why are they fighting on top of me
I imagine the whole apartment block in one room
A commixture of smells, words and nightly rhythms
I get suffocated in concrete
The funnel from the mixing machine hits my lips as soon as I put the key in the door
Concrete on time
Strong and solid
It makes me weak and a strange beetle, that someone calls a dog, has eaten my inner foundation
The back is lying on the floor
Taking up space
Dust clouds dancing around it, when a draft finally penetrates the vacuum-packed apartment
The coughing makes it moves in twitches
The exhibition Pull You Up By The Bootstraps consists of a series of new works created for this particular show at Ta·da. Rikke Goldbech explores the sentiment of materials relating to the idea of construction and foundation as a basis of a home.
